Miss Nichole Willden

| My favorite part about teaching is what happens after the information has been presented; it is the excitement of watching as a child grasps an elusive concept, learning something new to him that he will use for the rest of his life. My favorite thing to see is a young mind blossoming with new knowledge.
As a teacher, my goal is to foster a love for learning in each child, in a hope that they will continue their education throughout the remainder of their lives. I like children to gain a confidence in their own abilities. For that reason I allow them opportunities to teach each other, to take an active role in their schooling community, and to continue their education beyond the formal classroom.
I hope to share my love for learning with a classroom full of enthusiastic students! |

Ahoy, Me Hearties! See Below for a Peek at Our Week:
This Just In...
Our class mascot is still missing! With only a few suspects left, we think we may be coming to the end of this mystery. Updates to follow...
Writing Workshop
In our Writing Workshop this week, we will continue to work in teams. We will finish our plans and will being drafting this week. We will review what we know about helping verbs and subject/verb agreement.
Reading Workshop
We are learning about inferring this month in the Reading Workshop. We will infer the meaning of words we don't know and continue to make predictions and develop unique interpretations of text. Also starting this week, we will read books nominated for class book awards!
Science
We will continue learning about the Earth and moon this week as we prepare for a trip to the moon! This week we will learn about the surfaces of the Earth and moon. We will learn about craters and soil.
Social Studies We are learning about Northern Europe, and the flags and animals of Europe. We will learn more about the United State this week. We already know ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NJ, NY, PA, MD, DE, VA, WV, and KY! We will have a test Friday of all the states we have learned so far.
Memorization:
Earth Rotates and Revolves
Rotate means to spin around but stay in one place. Revolve means to move around another object is space. The Earth can rotate in one day- just one. But it takes Earth a year to revolve around the sun.
